Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To observe the effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) massage combined with Wuxing Jianpi decoction on functional dyspepsia (FD) in children and its influence on gastrointestinal motility. Methods A total of 125 children with FD admitted to Nanyang First People's Hospital from October 2020 to February 2023 were selected and divided into Chinese medicine group (63 cases) and Western medicine group (62 cases) according to random number table method. The Chinese medicine group was treated with massage combined with Wuxing Jianpi decoction, and the Western medicine group was treated with conventional Western medicine. The TCM syndrome scores, gastric modynamics parameters, changes in gastrointestinal hormone levels, and the occurrence of adverse reactions after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the scores of TCM main syndrome and secondary syndrome in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the western medicine group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the magnitude of antrum contraction, frequency of antrum contraction and antrum motilite index (MI) in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the Western medicine group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of gastrin (GAS) and somatostatin (SS) in the Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the Western medicine group, and the level of motilin (MLT) was higher than that in the Western medicine group, with statistical significances (P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the Chinese medicine group was 6.35% (4/63), which was lower than that in the western medicine group 17.74% (11/62), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion TCM massage combined with Wuxing Jianpi decoction can effectively improve gastrointestinal function and promote gastrointestinal motivity recovery in children with FD, and compared with conventional Western medicine, the incidence of adverse reactions caused by TCM therapy is lower, and the treatment safety is higher.
